New pieces added today in my Etsy shop: antique porcelain shards on sterling chains. These are the same shards I use in my bestselling pottery shard earrings. Based on customer requests, I am now offering these lovely pieces on simple chains. If you want a different type of chain (antiqued silverplate, natural brass, gunmetal/base metal), please let me know what you are looking for - I would love to work on a custom piece for you. What other chains do you want to see regularly offered with these pendants?

This Sunday, Asilomar Works will be appearing in the North Park Craft Mafia's "Spring Line Up" spectacular!

This event sounds like it is going to be a blast - I almost wish I was attending just on my own. Be sure to get there when the doors open at noon, as event organizers are giving away swag bags (look for your very own Asilomar Works goodies) to the first 100 people to arrive.

I have listed the first of several new pieces in my Etsy shop, Asilomar Works. Also, I am planning on having a one-day-only sale starting this Saturday afternoon, August 25. I haven't decided the sale offer yet but it will most likely be either 20% off necklaces and bracelets/30% off earrings, or perhaps a BOGO/50% off the second item. July started out as a crazy month, and it pretty much ended the same way. About midway through the month, I started having connection problems with my computer. Brought it to my PC guy once it started refusing to load any webpages and just got it back today. Very frustrating to be computerless and, more importantly, Internetless! Without my computer, I had no way to download the photos I took of the jewelry I was entering in the Comic Con art show. I am hopeful they turned out all right (checking them is my next task after this update). It was also disappointing to miss out on the hoopla surrounding the first EJA Eclectic Chef project. Ah well, I can still gear up for the next event.

I was really impressed by the entries I saw in this year's art show. There were larger-than-life metal sculptures, awesome chainmaille and bead headdresses, steampunk contraptions, paintings and drawings, even a full line of Elven pottery!

The art show staff were lovely to work with, especially after a rather hectic, frustrating and disorganized start to my art show experience. Kitty, who helped me set up, makes costumes for renn faires, and we discussed a cooperative effort where she might show some of my faire-worthy necklaces at her booth at a faire next Spring. As a big girly fan of renn faires, I am really excited about exploring this opportunity. I received many comments from show staff about the jewelry I made, so I will plan to offer these fantasy-inspired designs in my shops. Of the eighteen pieces I made, fourteen sold and one got nicked, so obviously people had a positive reaction to these designs. :D

Oh yes, I did learn two weeks ago that one of my entries for the Luxe Jewels Star Designer of the Year contest was a finalist. That's two years in a row. I'm very pleased and honored, and I can't wait to see the other finalists.

As I said, a crazy month but a good one.

July is a crazy month for me. This month marks the second anniversary of the founding of Asilomar Works. Last week, I submitted two designs for Luxe Jewels' Star Designer of the Year contest. I really love both designs I created. Last year, one of my pieces was a finalist, so I am hoping for a similar result for 2007.

I am currently creating jewelry like a geeky madwoman in anticipation of showing my jewelry in the art show at San Diego Comic Con starting July 26. This will be my first year in the CC art show, and I am incredibly excited and nervous.
