Pick your favorite!

Asilomar Works is going to be featured on a blog, and the blogger needs one image of my favorite piece. Asking for one favorite piece is akin to asking a parent which child is their favorite. But I've narrowed it down to my top five that best represent what I can do. (Is it a surprise that four of the five are inspired by Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion, with the fifth inspired by the first Pirates of the Caribbean?)

New pieces added!

New pieces added today in my Etsy shop: antique porcelain shards on sterling chains. These are the same shards I use in my bestselling pottery shard earrings. Based on customer requests, I am now offering these lovely pieces on simple chains. If you want a different type of chain (antiqued silverplate, natural brass, gunmetal/base metal), please let me know what you are looking for - I would love to work on a custom piece for you. What other chains do you want to see regularly offered with these pendants?

BOGO SALE - Pottery Shard Earrings

This weekend through Monday, I am having a BOGO sale on all pottery shard earrings in my Etsy shop! Buy one pair of pottery shard earrings, get a second pair for 50% off. That's two great, unique pairs of earrings for $22.50 plus shipping. These are some of the most popular items in my line, and they don't go on sale very often. But, it is a new year and I want to make room for new designs. This means there is no limit to how many pairs you can buy in this BOGO sale!

Upcoming announcement and my geeky side.

Recently, I have really let my passion for J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth inspire my jewelry designs. It goes beyond my love of Peter Jackson's recent movies and is not just limited to the epic fantasy of The Lord of the Rings. Not unlike the Dwarves of Khazad-dum, I have delved greedily into Professor Tolkien's other treasure, The Silmarillion, and his extensive background material regarding the history of Middle-earth. There is so much to discover and ponder. I can easily lose myself in that world for hours, if not days, at a time. Middle-earth has been a big influence on my life and my art in the last few years. The people I have met, and the events I have attended, and the creative endeavours I have been part of, all thanks to this Middle-earth. I just love it! So it is with barely restrained glee that I will be posting a very special announcement next week. It will be regarding a project a long time in the making, and I'm absolutely thrilled with it.

    Where to find Asilomar Works

Asilomar Works has teamed up with online scuba retailer Unrealfind.com to create a line of ocean-themed jewelry! Most of these designs are exclusive to Unrealfind.com. If you are in San Diego, you can stop by the Unrealfind showroom located off Interstate 5 near Mission Bay (clicking the picture will take you to their website; then check on the left for a link to directions). Through our partnership, you will also be able to purchase most of these designs on Amazon.com.

This is such an exciting opportunity. The ocean and everything related to it have fascinated me since my childhood. I am truly looking forward to developing more designs for this line, so check their jewelry section often for the latest!

    (no subject)

Taking a quick break from the jewelry-making frenzy that has been my life the last few weeks. I am so stoked about the Spring Line Up show on Sunday. Word is really getting out there--this is going to be huge!

One of San Diego CityBeat's picks of the week!

What a week for Maya to have Thursday off. I really enjoy her segments on 94.9FM and had high hopes she might mention the show. Alas! But having it up on the website works, too. See you there!
